Missing Links?.......
Taycol Model Marine Electric Motors
Taycol Oddities - a series of musings on various Taycol-related matters or features of the Taycol motors which I don't understand.
Collector's examples of Taycols may still be found, pristine in their original packing, hidden away in a loft or outhouse, but the ones most people are going to use will be dirty, rusty, worn and sometimes missing parts if they have been disassembled.
Most parts are easy to replace - the nuts and bolts are stabdard BA, the feet are bent brass sheet, the paxolin end-plates are covered in the Bearings section. About the only thing which can ruin a Taycol is the regrettable tendency some owners have is for cutting off the motor shaft to get at a seized universal joint. I must see if I can figure out a method of replacing these...
Most common, however, is the lack of end-plate links. These need to be removed to operate a switched reversing controller, and are then easy to mislay. The big Taycols are particularly prone to losing these.
So here are the cutting patterns to replace any such missing links you may have. All made of brass sheet. Click on them to get a sized .PDF template...
